Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3
Welcome to my Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 car feature page. On this page I will feature all the cars that I have created in the game. I guess first of all I'll showcase the cars that were created from my first game save that I had. This save sadly got corrupted, and I lost all my cars, except for one, which I later recreated In my second game save, with very close accuracy I might add :)
Here Is the very first car I painted on. It was an older gen WRX so I decided to put the WRC graphics on the side, and I made a little design on the hood, and tried my hand at painting a roof scoop on top..which in some shots looked 1d...but in other shots it almost looked 3d, and looked pretty cool. It was a simple car now that I look back on it, but at the time I thought it was the coolest thing to drive :) Click the thumbnail below to go to a page with full size pics.
The Subaru was a damn good car, fast too, but I like some variety, so appropriately, my next car was the almighty R34 Skyline. Its a sweet car, but I wanted to use the powers of paintshop to make it even sweeter. I was playing a lotta NFS: Underground at the time, and my mind was polluted, so I decided to try and make a "fast and furious" type design. This is what I came up with. Again, click the thumbnail for a page w/ full size pics.
After this I decided to undertake a task of which I'd finish. Recreate a real world car. But I didnt know which car to do, or what direction to take. I was playing GT3 one day, and I happened to come across the Denso Supra. Looking at it, its just a beautiful car, and looking at it some more, didn't seem like it would be THAT difficult to paint. (compared to its Castrol counterpart) So I set out to do the impossible, and in a total of about 10 hours of work, completed my goal, which came out MUCH better than I'd ever expected it to. Click the thumbnail to view the pics, which inlclude some never before seen pics I took during different stages of Its development.
Having completed this task, my mind was torn out of ricer mode, and I realized my Skyline was screaming for a makeover. I wasn't quite sure what to do though. Thoughts of the Penzoil, or Calsonic crossed my mind, but I didn't wanna go the JGTC route again. So I took to the internet (and GT3) and researched. I found lots of possible canidates. The Mine's and R-Tune stood out, as did Motorex's Blackbird. But were all rather plain looking, and after doing the Denso, I knew I could do somthing more challenging. During my research i came across the awesome Blitz Skyline. I like this idea. Upon further review in TXR3, I amazingly found out that aside from the front bumper, they had every body kit option that was on the actual blitz, even the wierdly shaped overfenders. I knew this must not have been a coincidence, they must have wanted you to make the Blitz, so thats what I set out to do :) It was actually a little more challenging than I thought it would be, espeicially the rear part, because there are FOUR separate pieces that make up the rear altogether that must be painted separetly, but look to appear blended seamlessly. Here are my results, you know the drill.
These were the cars in my first game. Sadly, right after I had unhooked my PS2 from my computer when I had taken screenshots of my newly finished Blitz, my save game was corrupted, so I lost everything, except the pictures and memories I'd accumulated, and a replay of my Blitz that I had saved. I took a break from the game for awhile, dissapointed in the game, and myself, for not making a backup save, when I knew I should have. And also I was playing a lot of project gotham 2 at the time :)
After awhile, I got bit by the TXR3 bug again and felt the need to rebuild my empire again. I looked at what had happend to my previous game as a way to start anew, and an opportunity to create even cooler cars. This time I started the game off with the 180SX. And with good reason too, I was going to recreate the Team Falken drift 180 thats driven by Yoshinori Koguchi. I wasnt expecting it to eclipse my greatest creation, my Denso, but I just wanted somthing to tool around in while I worked through the beginning stages of the game again. It came out pretty good though, in my opinion. I didn't go into GREAT detail with it. but enough to keep me happy.
This time for my second car, I chose the newer gen RX7. I did this mostly because I just wanted an RX7, I just wanted somthing a little different, plus, I love the exhaust note from the rotary's in this game :) When the time came to paint it, again I was left pondering what to do. At last I thought "So far I've just been recreating actual cars...why not to try to come up w/ a design of my own." So thats what I set out to do. I decided I wanted to make a "tuner" car like somthing you'd see featured in a magazine like Sport Compact Car, or Super Street. BUT, I didn't want it to look like somthing that just rolled off the set of the Fast and Furious 3. So I kept it fairly simple, and here are the results.
At this point I was pretty well set in the game, so I set out to do somthing I'd vowed to do after my first game crashed. Get my Denso back. And thats exactly what I did. It only took me about half the time it did to make it the first time, and it turned out looking almost exactly like it did the first time I had it. I was quite happy w/ this. It was so close in fact, that I didnt even bother to take any good screen captures of it, because it looks so much like the ones I already have. I did take a few shots w/ my digicam tho, maybe someday I'll take some proper captures of it. Also included in this section are pics of how my Supra looked before I started my Denso recreation. This is how I drove it around while I was building it up.
With money to blow, I was on a mission once again to create a car. I went back to GT3 for inspiration and came up w/ many possible canidates. The one I decided to go with, was the Razo C-West Silvia. This was my original intent. However, upon looking at the body kit options for the Silvia, I really wasn't happy with them. So then an idea popped into my head. What would happen if they were to make a Razo 350Z? I think I'll find out! I started out just mimicking the general design of the razo silvia in gt3. But as I progressed further and further, I kept adding little things here and here until it became a hybrid design of the razo silvia and my own creation. I was quite pleased with the results, and never thought it could happen...but I had created a car which in my eyes, surpassed my Denso, tho the Denso still sits at close second.
Finally here are a few pics of a car I didn't keep. Sadly it had to be sold to make a spot for a faster car, but I enjoyed this one for the short period I had it. It was rather simple, but looked pretty good. A viper GTS, painted w/ the GTS-R Concept car's stripe theme.
Well heres my newest creation. It is based on the Norris Designs EVO VII. A 700+HP beast that can push OVER 30PSI. I'll just let you look for yourself.
There you have it. My cars of past and present. What does the future hold? I don't know...but I'm pretty sure I've still got some tricks up my sleeve :)
